A store in the mall had a melon cut and each half out front of the front corners of the store. They had done their morning Diwali puja with it as an altar/containers.




The red stuff is spices and vermillion, and they put a mark with it on the foreheads of participants as a blessing. (Surely I'm unclear on this, and if anyone wants to leave clarification in the comments, that would be cool.)

Hema and Ravi once saw a similar deal by the side of the road, done with halves of an empty Coke can.
